The Power of We

Hard work and high performance are not the yardstick for personal or organisation success. When organisations can harness the synergies of the people, and when the staff can align their personal aspirations with the larger objectives of the teams and companies/organisations they work for, high performance naturally sets in – highly essential in today’s changing work economy.

The American Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969 is a powerful example of teamwork. It is the result of more than 400,000 people working together in a collective response to the Soviets shocking achievement of sending the first satellite(1957) and first man(1961) in outer space. The 400,000 people included teams of scientists, engineers and technicians, many of whom have no aerospace experience. To make for a more cohesive team, the astronauts worked with many of these groups, making the human connection that is the blood of any team.

All great enterprises are a result of a team effort.

Team Building For Higher Performance

When You Need Team Building Training?

In a war, every man and woman has a common goal - to defeat the enemy. Initially in the space race, the Soviets beat the Americans by launching the first satellite Sputnik 1 in 1957 and sending the first dog(1957) and first man in outer space in 1961. Before 1969, the US government and NASA have a common vision to land a man on the moon before the Soviets. So teamwork is natural under such circumstances. In less stressful times, how do you cultivate teamwork in an age of individualism? When business is good, companies or organisations can coast along, but when business is bad, teamwork is imperative for survival.

When you detect the following signs, it is time to regroup and start team building:

  • Low morale
  • Lack of trust
  • Low productivity
  • Clash of different personalities
  • Goals not clearly communicated
